When talking about a person’s style, this word means that a player enjoys playing aggressive or tactical positions.    Used in any other context it generally deals with an aggressive position or move.   An aggressive move, line of play, or position.   When mentioned in regards to a playing style, it indicates sharp or tactical tendencies.  

Active piece:  a developed piece that is actively participating in the conduct of the game.    Active pieces form the basis of any attack.
